Dear Mr Stephens
Further to my earlier e-mails regarding inappropriate radio advertising, I have recently received a response to my representations to the Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator the Hon Stephen Conroy. I have attached the Minister's response for your information.
Disappointingly, it appears the Minister has missed the point of your complaint. Instead, he has detailed a series of measures the Government has taken, all of which, as evidenced in your complaint, are not working.
It is, however, reassuring to note the Government will be reviewing the standards applied when addressing these complaints. I will endeavour to contact you when this review opens for public submissions so that yours may be included.
I also acknowledge your e-mail of the 21st of April regarding the poor response from my Parliamentary colleagues. I noted importantly that many of the poor responses were from representatives of Labor-held electorates (Bennelong, Brand and my neighbouring electorate of Forde). It is very disappointing that despite declaring themselves a Government that listens to average Australians, so many poor responses have been forthcoming.
Thank you again for raising this matter with me. Again, I will endeavour to contact you later in the year and of course, if I can be of some assistance on any matter, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely Steven
